In its simplest definition, an insulator is an insulator in distribution power transmission lines, elements that are used to detect the conductor to the pole and have the property of isolating against electric current are called insulators.
• According to the voltage of the conductor it carries, the insulators are divided into 3 groups. Low voltage insulator it is an insulator with a rated voltage up to 1000 V and covered by TS 76. Medium voltage insulator is an insulator with a rated voltage up to 35 kV. And if it is a High voltage insulator, it is the insulator with a rated voltage greater than 35 kV.
• According to the types of construction, the types of insulators are divided into 3 groups. These are the support, chain type and gate insulator.
• According to the type of material it is made of, insulator types are divided into four groups: porcelain, glass, epoxy resin and silicone.
Low Voltage Insulators;
Low voltage insulators are an important component widely used in electrical energy transmission and distribution systems. These insulators are used for the insulation of their electrical connections. The design, material selection and test methods of low voltage insulators are very important. At the design stage, the size, shape and construction materials of the insulator are taken into account. Insulator materials include materials such as glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP), silicone rubber, and ceramics Dec. These materials are preferred with high strength, high insulation resistance and long life characteristics.
In the selection of materials, it takes into account the environmental conditions as well as the characteristics of the insulator. Factors such as weather conditions, pollution level, humidity and temperature in the place where insulators will be used play an important role in the selection of materials.
The fact that the insulators have test certificates is another important step after the material selection. These tests measure the properties of the insulator such as insulation resistance, mechanical strength and temperature resistance. Having such tests of insulators is critical for safety, detecting possible faults in advance and extending the life of the insulator.
As a result, low voltage insulators has an important role in terms of safety and performance in electrical energy transmission and distribution systems. The design, material selection and testing of insulators ensure that insulators have high performance and long life characteristics. Therefore, the correct design of insulators, selection of appropriate materials and regular testing of insulators are critical for the safety and sustainability of electrical systems.
